LES BAXTER and BAS SHEVA - “The Passions”
CAPITOL LAL-486 (MONO - 10” US LP) - LES BAXTER and BAS SHEVA - “The Passions”
This is a very exciting Les Baxter ‘Bachelor Pad’ collectible. A beautiful boxed 10 incher -
a classic “Concept” exotica/space-age LP from ca. 1954 which sets out to capture all
of woman’s passions. The pieces are titled, “Despair”, “Ecstasy”, “Hate”, “Lust”, “Terror”. “Jealousy”
and “Joy”. Baxter uses, “... as an instrument the remarkably sensitive voice of Bas Sheva -
a voice whose vivid colorations range from the gutteral snarl of savagery to a delicate and lyric beauty.”
Also, includes a nice booklet (see scan) which gives complete “high fidelity critiques” of each track and
technical info for the ‘50s audiophile.
DISC = NEAR MINT High gloss surface shows very little handling/play
marks, a couple of careless spindle trails on the label. Just a nicely preserved copy!
BOX = EXCELLENT Solid with a little wear. The booklet is NICE - one seam on box has a 3” split.
