Description

Artist: Les Paul and Boyce Brown
Label - Ed Hartwell Acetate
Tunes : Tea for Two / Conversation
Notes: This is a heavy / thick 10 inch aluminum base acetate recorded at 78 rpm. It is a "live" recording dated 10-5-1941 possibly done in Chicago given the name and address on the label. Besides Les Paul, the personnel hand written on the label includes Chicago alto saxophonist Boyce Brown who is featured prominently on Tea for Two. Tea for Two starts in progress during Les Paul's electric guitar solo consequently you only hear him for about 16 bars. There is an unknown acoustic guitar who plays rhythm throughout the performance. This side runs 3 minutes and 44 seconds which includes incidental talking after the song finishes. Side 2 is strictly crowd conversation with the musicians noodling randomly in the background; no tune is played. The overall fidelity is acceptable. This may be a one of a kind item.

Disc Condition: The disc is in V Minus (V-) condition with many scuffs and scratches. It plays through ok but there are 2 brief skips which might be resolved with a different stylus as well as a thorough cleaning which is something I did not attempt to do. The acetate coating is fully intact, no peeling.
