LIGHTNING HOPKINS (aka Lightening Hopkins)
Merry Christmas
Lightnin' Hopkins is one of Texas' best proponents of post-war blues. His down home approach influenced countless younger blues players in the '50s and '60s, and are still hear echoing through the blues today.
Lightnin' cut records for many different labels in the '50s. This one is from Christmas of '53 and finds him between recording for Aladdin Records, and about the same time he was recording for Jax, Mercury and RPM.
It's a seasonal blues record of "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year." Wonderful electric guitar and a real holiday necessity. As you can see from the label, this is an original '53 vintage original, not a later re-release.
