PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! UNDERRATED 1971 RARE LIME GREEN CAPITOL FIRST PRINTING!
S.F. JAMMER!
QUICKSILVER
COMIN' THRU
USA - LIME GREEN CAPITOL - SMAS 11002
Extremely hard to find with the original lime green Capitol labels ... almost all copies of 'COMIN' THRU' were pressed with the red Capitol label, very few were released with the lime green as this was the time Capitol changed its label color ....
CLEAN, minty vinyl ...Original 1971 first pressing in thick gatefold cover of a vastly underrated album led by Dino Valente & Gary Duncan....
A band known for their formation during the sixties with helping the onset of the psychedelic scene, Quicksilver Messenger Service’s "Comin’ Thru" is brain child of guitarists Dino Valente and Gary Duncan. Although the band’s most notable albums such as their self-titled album (1968) and Happy Trails (1969) show progressive notions of San Francisco’s psychedelic scene, Comin’ Thru is vastly underestimated and shows the band’s musical influences of blues and folk as well has their trademark West Coast rock grooves. This album doesn’t follow a typical Quicksilver song montage of jamming then losing your mind for an allotted amount of time, but it holds true to the psychedelic rock ideas of say the Dead or Jefferson Airplane. "Doing Time in the U.S.A." is the winner on this album, an infectious slice chronicling different themes regarding the law being broken when Dino Valente recites in his most Jagger-esque voice, “…I can’t get no, satisfaction;” this being ironic seeing as how the band’s former organist, Nicky Hopkins, was doing work with the Rolling Stones at the time. "Chicken" lays down a dueling solo of lows and highs that make this soulful jam extremely tight. As always twang blues guitar riffs are found throughout, most present on "Mojo" and "Changes." Mojo, a song about what else than a man’s swagger/libido, has that psychedelic song formation found in their earlier albums. Ending the song via a line-up of solo’s starting from guitar to bass then on to keyboard the band obtains a type of “jam feeling” usually only found in live performances. Forty Days, Mojo, Don't Lose it and Doin' Time In The USA have thee energy here, with Duncan's guitarwork sounding maybe the best ever. His solo on Forty Days, for example, is more raw and succinct than anything ever done by any Brit-Blues "master" of the era. Valenti's voice is much more powerful than on any other QMS record...There is nothing fake or foreign here. This is a fine album by a true original American band. SIDE ONE DOIN' TIME IN THE U.S.A.
