Nelson Riddle, great songs, great singer and this compilation of all three of her standards albums in their entirety make for a great two disc set. Most of these songs have been done as well or better by the great singers but this lady can hold her own with the singers from the '30s, '40s and '50s that made these american standards so well known. I have been playing this album once in a while now for over 10 years.

Let’s get the record straight. Her lame Buddy Holly covers and pseudo-folk songs from her early career notwithstanding: (a) Linda Ronstadt has an EXQUISITE voice (b) The Lady also has an exquisite taste (c) the Lady has an orchestra from heaven (led by the late, great Nelson riddle who did the infinitely delicate orchestral arrangements for all those classic 50’s Capitol Records Frankie Sinatra and Nat "King" Cole albums); (d) on the cover of this album, the Lady looks hot as a firecracker. Linda’s voice seems to be particularly well-suited for these 32 classic, timeless Jazz and Blues Standards, which she sings with such infinite grace and heartfelt emotion. A beautiful piece, absolutely indispensable for the contemporary vocals aficionados - human voice doesn't get any better than this.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
