L’INFONIE “Vol. 333” TOP! Canadian Avant Garde Jazz Psych 2lp set M-
1972/Canada/Kot'ai Records KOT-3303.....here's a rare original 2lp set by this French Canadian Avant Garde band. This is their 3rd release and by many considered their best. The thick gatefold cover is solid and clean, there is some minor light aging on the outer edges, some very minor light shelf wear, banged lower right corner, very light corner wear, otherwise the cover is in clean condition with no splits or delete. Clean inner gatefold and a solid readable thick spine. Both records are in glossy excellent to M- condition. There are five tiny inaudible needle marks and one very tiny scuff at the very start that makes a light tick for the first ten revolutions, there is minor light crackle for the first couple of minutes during the quieter beginning on side one, after that all four sides play clean with minor light crackle at cue, the records play clean with clean fidelity! Seldom turns up in this clean condition! Please check my auctions for other rock, prog and psych lp's. Good luck and thanks for looking!

La Tounne Platte
L'Infonie's third album was a two-LP set, Vol. 333. Conceptually, it goes back to L'Infonie, adopting a mixed-bag format where avant-gardist rock pieces are followed by baroque music and Varèse-esque compositions. The difference is: this time it works a lot better. The first record is made of one continuous 40-minute piece, "Paix" (Peace; on both sides of the record itself, the track is designated by the wrong title "L'Infonie"). A Walter Boudreau composition, "Peace" is made of 50 sections. Thanks to the presence of a strong lead guitar (Michel Lefrançois) and rhythm section (Jacques Valois on bass and Ysengourd Knohr), the music is akin to progressive rock. Compositional elements are taken from Boulez' Ensemble Inter-Contemporain, free jazz and rock. A recurring guitar theme holds the piece together and two parts including vocals by Raôul Duguay over a rock foundation are an indication of what the latter's solo material will sound like (his first album, Alllô Tôulmônd, will be released in 1975). All in all, "Paix" is a complex and engaging piece of music, although it remains listener-friendly. Vol. 333, in spite of limited recording facilities, remains L'Infonie's best and most representative album.

GRADING
MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.
M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
