WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART * Requiem * Das Dunedin Consort präsentiert die Erstaufnahme des von dem Mozart-Schüler Süssmayr vervollständigten Requiems in der David Black Edition von 2013. Sie wurde zum Gewinner in der Kategorie 'Choral' bei den Gramophone Awards 2014 gekürt. Ähnlich wie andere Dunedin-Projekte bietet diese LP die Möglichkeit sich wieder vorstellen zu können, wie Mozarts Werk bei seiner allerersten Aufführung geklungen haben mag. Deshalb ist diese Aufnahme nicht nur die erste der neuen Edition, sondern präsentiert das Werk auch mit Besetzungen, die in Stil und Maßstab denen der ersten Aufführungen nahe kommen.

The Dunedin Consort presents the premiere recording of Mozart scholar David Black's new 2013 edition of Süssmayr's completion of Mozart's Requiem. It was named winner of the 'Choral' category at the 2014 Gramophone Awards. In keeping with several other Dunedin projects, this LP provides the opportunity to re-imagine what this work may have sounded like at its very first performance. To this end, the recording will be the first not only to use this new edition, but also to present the work using forces close in style and scale to those at the first performances.
»Purely on grounds of performance alone, this is one of the finest Mozart Requiems of recent years. As with all of Butt's recordings, however, this Mozart Requiem is something of an event. It is Butt's minute attention to these details, though, that makes this such a thrilling performance.«
