Ladies and Gentlemen, you are looking at the inception of  Rock'n'Roll. This is the spring-source of every single pattern and idea known to modern American music. Little Richard not only single-handedly invented (or midwived) the entire early Rock'n'Roll scene, he practically patented every single template known in Rock since the mid-50's. We proudly present here Little Richard's Specialty BOX SET (73 songs altogether!!!) - the legendary Rock master's  FIRST, LAST AND ONLY CAREER-SPANNING, comprehensive anthology. This glorious box set has been out of print on vinyl since the beginning of time, and this may be one of the last chances to grab it.

***

Dig it: a collection of all 73 songs that Little Richard cut for Specialty Records from 1955 through 1959, including early working versions of hits including "Long Tall Sally" and "Slippin' and Slidin'," may seem like overkill to the casual listener, but if you're thinking of buying this three-CD box, chances are you're not a casual listener. And if you're not thinking about it, then you should be. This set covers only four years in Little Richard's career, but manages to sum up virtually everything you need to know about him (his earlier sides, available on Bear Family, are an interesting appendix, but of his later stuff, only the early- and mid-'60s material, with Jimi Hendrix on guitar, holds any significance, mostly as a curiosity). Not only does the music make you want to get up and dance, but the notes -- spread out in a lavishly illustrated booklet and the individual jewel boxes -- tell the whole story of Specialty Records and the people behind it, including Art Rupe, Bumps Blackwell, Dave Bartholomew, and, of course, Richard Penniman himself. The session information alone could keep owners busy for a week. The sound is nothing less than breathtaking, loud and raunchy but razor-sharp, and the price of this set -- about $42 retail -- makes it competitive with other Little Richard single-disc sets as well as more attractive than the price of boxes devoted to Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

(REVIEW REPRINTED COURTESY OF BRUCE EDER, ALL MUSIC GUIDE  /ALLMUSIC.COM/)

Important note about this LP box set: original LP version of 'Specialty Sessions' was issued in 1989,  when the vinyl record as an audio format was officially pronounced dead , and the production of virtually all vinyl LPs “mysteriously” ceased, as if on cue (hint: major record labels had something to do with it). As a result, LP versions of this great Little Richard set were issued ONLY as promotional releases, advance pressings or limited edition releases and are PRACTICALLY UNKNOWN TO EXIST IN LP FORMAT;  Close to 100% of all known copies are digital (compact disc or cassette) versions. This is only the second LP box set we have seen in a lifetime of collecting

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG NEAR MINT. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The records come in their original, custom, inner sleeves, which are UNIQUE to this album.

(c)           The records are pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl either.

(d)          The records are also pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(e)           This box set comes with its original 32-page booklet

(f)            The box set also comes with the original press release / letter from Specialty Records
