Rare original belgian masterpiece from the multimedia project Logos Duo together with Karel Goeyvaerts.

Some info on the release:  Bloody rare original issue, released in Belgium sometime in the early 80's on the belgian Igloo label (Henri Chopin, Jean-Paul Ganty, Arthur Petronio and Jacques Lizene, Leo Kupper, Henry Krutzen, Andre Stordeur, Michel Butor, Fred Van Hove and Jacques Bekaert, Groupe D'Expression Sonore de Tournai and Garrett List). Groundbreaking album with innovative material from belgian duo Logos Duo. Using homemade instruments (like the manipulofoon, the springdriver, the Synthelog, etc. -don't ask me what these are exactly-), plus electronics (4-channel tape), voices, screaming, microphones, percussions and by combining them with a theatrical touch they create a unique sound environment. For those into sound art, electronics and text sound compositions.

Godfried-Willem Raes (Ghent, 3 January 1952) studied musicology (with Jan Broeckx) and philosophy (with Leo Apostel) at the Rijksuniversiteit Gent, and piano, clarinet, percussion and composition (with Louis de Meester and Norbert Rosseau) at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent.  After leaving the conservatory in 1968, he set up the Logos-group, which quickly developed into one of the most prominent and durable factors in the Flemish experimental music scene.  After taking part in the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik over a number of years, receiving lessons from, among others, Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Ligeti he returned to the conservatory in Ghent in 1982 as a teacher of avant-garde chamber music and was subsequently appointed full-time teacher of experimental composition. In 1993, Raes earned a doctorate in musicology with a dissertation on the “Invisible Instrument” and since 1997 he has been connected with the Orpheus Hoger Instituut voor Muziek. Besides his work as a composer and pedagogue, Raes is active as a concert organiser (with the Stichting Logos in Ghent) and as a performer of his own work and that of others, partly in collaboration with his wife Moniek Darge, the two artists together forming the Logos Duo.

With his revolt against the then stodgy Ghent conservatory and the subsequent founding of Logos, Godfried-Willem Raes was among the initiators of experimental music in Flanders. Like similar groups in other countries (such as the Fluxus movement or John Cage in the United States or Cornelius Cardew's Scratch Orchestra in Britain), he toiled (and continues to toil) for a broadening of horizons on four fronts: a broadening of the notion of music, by abolishing the boundaries between art and life and between different art forms; a broadening of the notion of work; a broadening of the means of production, by using existing instruments in new ways or by building new instruments oneself; and a broadening of the role of the audience, which is invited to participate.

Moniek Darge has been teaching for institutions of higher education since 1984. Nowadays she teaches "audio art", "ethnic and non western visual arts. As co-director of the Logos Foundation, she helps organising around 70 contemporary music concerts each year (since 1968). Between 1970 and 1980 she was co-organiser of at least ten mixed-media festivals, on which she also took the initiative to organise "Sonomobiel"-exhibitions (e.g. at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Museum for Contemporary Art [SMAK} in Gent), displaying sound sculptures of (inter)national artists. In 1992 she organised the first Japanese Performance Festival in Gent en since 1993 she has been organising for a period of five years an annual "International Women Festival" to stimulate contacts between Flemish female composers, performers and musicians and their international colleagues and to promote their works. In 1998 vzw. 'Gynaika' invited her to a collaboration. At the end of 1999 she has organised a live concert transmission to Palmer Station in Antarctica in collaboration with the American audio artist Douglas Quin. She has collaborated with artists such as Stefanos Vassiliadis (Greece), Anestis Logothetis (+) (Greece), Alison Knowles (USA), Charlie Morrow (USA), Michael Juellich (Duitsland), David Moss (USA), John Zorn (USA), La Donna Smith (USA), Annea Lockwood (Nieuw-Zeeland), Anna Homler (USA), Karin De Fleyt (B), Fredy Studer (Switzerland), Horst Rickels (Netherlands) and many more.

Condition: Vinyl lies in very good++ condition, looks super clean with only a couple of light scuffs and plays with some light crackle, while cover lies in excellent shape, with right ring and small writing on back(see picture).
