The Leeds-based Paul Marshall's Lone Wolf alter-ego has met more than its fair share of adulation and critical plaudits during its life so far, yet 'Lodge' would appear to be the point at which his work blossoms into something beyond - an intensely personal and captivating record, this collection may nod in the direction of the heartfelt, pastoral strains of Talk Talk, the melancholia of Nick Drake or the fey heartache of Wild Beasts, yet there's a depth and a resonance to these songs that is indubitably Marshall's, and these richly arranged autumnal serenades are the sound of his vision coming into its own.
