Today for sale is a "Meet the Beatles" T 2047 record album original from 1964.  THIS PARTICULAR RECORD IS VERY RARE BECAUSE THE "MEET THE BEATLES" SLICK WAS PASTED OVER A RAY ANTHONY COVER. THE BEATLES SLICK IS ONLY PARTIALLY PEELED BACK TO REVEAL THE COVER BENEATH. I WILL LEAVE THE DECISION UP TO THE NEXT OWNER WETHER TO PEEL IT BACK ANY FARTHER OR NOT. I'LL ALSO BE HONEST IN THAT IT LOOKS LIKE THIS PEEL JOB ISN'T THE BEST.  IT HAS CAUSED SOME TEARS.  LOOK AT THE PICTURES CAREFULLY.

Here is your chance to own a piece of music history. Own this 1964 album that began the “British Invasion”! Every music lover’s/record collector’s collection should include one of these. Don’t miss out on this one! It isn’t really in the condition to be your show piece, it looks like it has been used pretty hard and slightly abused, but it is still a good piece of history. It is also reasonably priced.

WHY IS THIS COVER SO RARE?

ANSWER: THIS COVER IS RARE BECAUSE, BACK IN 1964 WHEN “BEATLES MANIA” WAS GOING ON, DEMAND FOR THIS ALBUM WAS GREAT. TO MEET THOSE DEMANDS COVERS THAT ALREADY WERE MADE FOR A DIFFERENT RECORD, SOMETIMES WERE PASTED OVER AND USED AS MEET THE BEATLES COVERS. THIS COVER IS PASTED OVER A 1962 COVER FROM AN ALBUM BY RAY ANTHONY. Labels: (There is wear to the labels especially on the edges where the color band is. It has some spindle marks and spindle wear. I think that this is the most common label with Side 1 song 1 having BMI next to it and the rest having ASCAP on side one. Side two has all songs listed with ASCAP. The labels are very presentable)

Playing Surface: 5(The playing surface of the record doesn’t look too bad. There are some scratches, scuffs, and finger prints. The biggest problem is on side one song four. There is a mark in the groove that wraps around the entire band. Earlier I said that the mark may cause added background noise and may skip. NOTE: However, I had a chance to play the record and that particular mark DOES NOT CAUSE A SKIP. I didn't really even hear any added background noise. From what I played side one has a bit less background noise than side two. Both sides sound nice and are enjoyable. I did not play the whole record, but what I did play sounded very nice. Overall, the vinyl looks like it would play good, but it is not play tested.)

Picture Sleeve: N/A

Inner Sleeve: The inner sleeve is a non-original plain white inner sleeve.

Cover:  5(This is not a terrible copy of the cover, but some might consider it undesirable. The good news is that most of the seams look nice! There is a small seam split about half an inch long at the bottom right opening. The spine looks good except for some chipping/splitting on the top and the bottom. It is more obvious on the bottom of the spine than it is on the top. The top seam has wear on both sides, but not much. I wouldn’t really call them seam splits, but it is worn out there. All of the corners have handling wear. The front artwork looks nice except for where someone has written the names of the Beatles on their pictures. There is also writing just below where it says “England’s Phenomenal” in “The First Album by England’s Phenomenal Pop Combo”. Finally, there is some writing just at the very top above the slick. The artwork though is shiny except for some scratches, wear, and bubbles. The artwork really doesn’t look bad. The back has two large spots of maybe water damage, writing in the top left, underlined text, and writing on the song list. The back also has overall age discolor. There are pictures that show most of this. The grading VG is my opinion, but I would recommend that you carefully look over the pictures. Remember that the top right corner of the slick is peeled back to reveal the cover beneath.)

My Grading Scale for the cover:

10 (Sealed) The cover is sealed and assumed to be stone mint.

9 (Mint) The cover is not sealed, but is flawless.

8 (Near Mint) The cover is near flawless, but may show some slight wear. The cover will have no seam splits.

7 (Near Mint-) The cover will very close to an 8, but might show the slightest bit more wear and some visible age discoloration.

6 (Very Good+) The cover will be very close to a 7, but may show some increased discoloration, soft corners, and fragile seams. No seam splits are allowed.

5 (Very Good) The cover will have all conditions from a 6, but will show some seam splits. None of the splits will be longer than 2 inches long. Most records will fall under this category and this is considered to be collectible.

4 (Very Good-) The cover may begin to show moderate seam splitting, moderate discoloration, soft corners, and possibly a “loose spine” where the spine is no longer tight and may begin to crack soon.

3 (Good) The cover will have all conditions from a 4, but may show more damage to the spine and even more seam splitting.

2 (Fair) The cover will be very worn and damaged.  The front and back will hardly be connected from all of the seam and spine splitting.

1 (Poor) The cover will be very damaged and will have all conditions from a 2, but they will be more pronounced.  Also, severe water damage will be included in this category.

My Grading Scale for the record:

10 (Sealed) The record is sealed and is assumed to be stone mint.

9 (Mint) The record is flawless in every way.  It appears to have just been purchased from the record shop.

8 (Near Mint) The record is near flawless, but might show some slight wear and soft scuffs from a paper sleeve.

7 (Near Mint-) The record will be very close to near mint, but might show a bit more wear and scuffing.

6 (Very Good+) The record will be very close to a 7, but may show a superficial scratch or two.  The play will not be affected.

5 (Very Good) The record will show some increased scratching, but should still play fine.

4 (Very Good-) The record will show scratching and may click a bit when it is played.  It will not skip.

3 (Good) This record will show heavy wear and moderate scratching.  It may play with a quick skip or two.

2 (Fair) This record is badly damaged.  It showS extreme wear and scratching.  The record is played with a risk of damaging the stylus.  It may skip in multiple places.

1 (Poor) The record is unplayable.  It may skip many times and/or stick.  

SHIPPING

I try to ship quickly. I usually ship USPS Priority Mail. I only ship to the continental 48 United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) and I do not ship to P.O. boxes. Depending on where you are located, shipping is usually $3-$5, so my flat charge is usually $4.00. This sometimes may include a small supply fee. If you have any problems with paying $4.00, contact me before you pay. We could use USPS Media Mail which my flat rate would be $3.00. If you would like to use a faster shipping service, UPS, or FEDEX, contact me before you pay. Just remember that if you use one of these services you will pay for it. I will include free insurance on all auctions that end at $100.00 or more. If you would like insurance on anything less than that, just contact me and I can include it on that too. I will combine shipping upon request for multiple auction wins. Each additional record will be $0.50 up to 5 records.

PAYMENT

First of all, I only accept PayPal for payment. I is just easier and safer than any other way, sorry but no exceptions.

TERMS OF SALE

Only expect to receive the items pictured/described. If the item is not fully paid for within 48 hours of the auction closed, the item will be relisted. There are exceptions to this. If you would contact me within those 48 hours and explain to me when you can pay, then we can wait a while longer. However, I WILL NOT hold an item for you for more than 10 days. Now the question of returns comes up. I do accept returns within 14 days, but no later. If you return an item please send me a message stating what the problem is. You can then send the item back to me. After I receive the item, I will examine it closely to see the condition and make sure that it is the same item that I sent. A refund will then be issued if it passes my inspection. This is simply a hobby so I do not want to cheat anybody to make a quick buck. Satisfaction is 100% guaranteed.

The record will be shipped in a fresh, clean, and new paper sleeve to prevent seam splitting and damage to the picture or original sleeve if it is included. It will also protect the record itself. I love the crackle of that old vinyl. Even though I was born years after vinyl was out, I am an avid collector of it. It all started with a visit to Graceland during a family vacation. Enough about me. Anyway, some of the records sold here may be from my personal collection. If so, they were well cared for and usually not played with a tracking force of 2.0 grams or more on a well-cared for system.
