LOOKOUTS - ONE PLANET ONE PEOPLE LP - LOOKOUT RECORDS - LK 001 - 1986 - TEST PRESSING
This is probably the strangest and most unusual bit of Lookout Records memorabilia you'll ever see. It's certainly the strangest and most unusual one I have.
This is the test pressing of the Lookouts album ONE PLANET ONE PEOPLE, the first Lookout Records release, that, as everyone knows featured a 12 year old Tre Cool, who would go on to play drums for GREEN DAY.
Larry Livermore made the "cover" by taping pieces of cardboard together and drawing what he said he wanted to cover to look like. This was constructed in my tiny Berkeley apartment, where, a few months previously, we had listened to the test pressing of my band's first, self-released, and extremely "diy" LP, so this was a reciprocal "listening party." In the end he left the record with me, and it's been in my record collection next to the the real copy for over 25 years.
At the time, I don't think Larry had any serious intention of starting a record label, but a couple of years later, he had indeed started one, and this record became, retroactively, the beginning of a celebrated and well-known history.
I know this would have been one of four of these test pressings. I am pretty confident that this is the only one with a handmade "cover" like that. So yeah, unique item, punk rock history, the whole shebang.
Vinyl is NM. Cover is as you see.
