LABEL: BLUE NOTE 1566 blue & white label NY USA press. has "vangelder" & "MATRIX NUMBER" in wax
CONDITION VINYL: M no marks or damage. no marks next to spindle holes & appears to be unplayed. Has a shinny surface.
CONDITION COVER: VG++ nice laminated first pressing cover and design. some small pencil on back. no seam splits or damage. [ALSO COMES WITH ORIGINAL PROMO SLEEVE FROM BLUE NOTE] {cover has 43 West 61st Street, New York 23
DETAILS: IN EARLY AUGUST, ON RETURNING HOME FROM VACATION, I RECEIVED A PLEASANT SURPRISE WHEN I FOUND A PACKAGE FROM BLUE NOTE AWAITING ME. IT WAS A TEST PRESSING OF A NEW RECORDING BY LOU DONALDSON AND INSIDE THE RECORD ENVELOPE WAS A TYPEWRITTEN SHEET WITH THE PERSONNEL, THE TITLES AND A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM ALFRED LION WHICH WAS UNDERLINED AND READ, "THE BEST LOU DONALDSON I EVER RECORDED.......".
RECORDED: JUNE 9, 1957
PLAYERS: Lou Donaldson, Herman Foster, Peck Morrison, Dave Bailey, Ray Barretto.
TUNES: Dorothy, I won't cry anymore, Herman's mambo, Peck time, There will never be another you, Groove junction, Grits and gravy.
