Description
LOU GIORDANO Don't Cha Know/Stay Close to Me BRUNSWICK 9-55115 original VG++/NM- 7" 45rpm promo 1958 absolute first press NOS/store stock copy!! One of the rarest Buddy Holly related records. September 30, 1958, Buddy Holly produced a record in New York for an unknown singer named Lou Giordano, according to Larry Lehmer’s book The Day the Music Died (p. 41). The B-side of the record was a song written by Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers called “Don’t Cha Know.” According to Roger White’s book on the Everly Brothers, Walk Right Back, during the recording, Everly and Holly sang backup. But they sang falsetto because they could not afford female singers. Also, because the two singers were under contract with another record company, they did not want anyone to recognize their voices. The A-side of the Giordano record was a song written by Holly called “Stay Close to Me.” Holly never recorded the song himself. This is absolutely an original 1st pressing acquired in a large group of 1950s promo 45s from a 1950s-60s radio DJ in Butte, Montana.

VISUAL GRADING:
SS (Still Sealed) - Never opened. (I do not believe in grading opened LPs or 45s as "Mint". A "Mint" record is still sealed.)
NM (Near Mint) - a near perfect, probably unplayed record. might be dusty or have a light fingerprint, but has no marks that can be seen.
NM- (Near Mint minus) - absolutely clean with at most a few very superficial marks that have no effect on playback.
VG++ - Super clean and very lightly played.
VG+ (Very Good Plus) - the record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little deterioration in sound quality.
VG (Very Good) - a well used copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages. A VG record may have very small marks that can be felt, but feelable marks will always be specifically noted in my listings)
VG- (Very Good minus) - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise. music still dominates over any background noise or pops.
G (good) - still a playable record without jumps or marks that stick, but a record in this condition will have significant surface noise, pops and other distractions.
