LOUISIANA BLUES LP: COUNTRY NEGRO JAM SESSIONS Folk-Lyric with catalog & booklet

Historic LP on the rarely seen Folk-Lyric label from Baton Rouge, with a ten-page insert booklet with liner notes and lyrics, plus an eight-page Folk-Lyric catalog (including prior releases on the Louisiana Folklore Society label and one on Dionysius). The catalog is divided into “Negro.” “Southern White,” “Louisiana Collections” and “English Scottish and Irish” categories. These 1959-60 recordings of Butch Cage, Willie B. Thomas, Rebecca Smith, Robert Pete Williams, Clarence Edwards, Sally Dotson, Smoky Babe, Leon Strickland and others were collected by Harry Oster. Arhoolie Records later acquired the Folk-Lyric masters. This LP was reissued on Arhoolie as COUNTRY NEGRO JAM SESSION (no S on the end). The record is VG+ with light surface wear and superficial streaks. Heavyweight jacket is VG+ with light surface wear and crimped bottom corners. The catalog has a number written on one page to correct an incorrect release number for one album. Stapled insert booklet is stained in the top left corner where it looks like it was Scotch taped at one time.

GRADING: LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor).

A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scuffs or scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records. P records are likely to be unplayable.
[+ and - denote in-between grades. Grades with a slash in between indicate the condition of Side A/Side B.]

Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
