LOVE "LOVE"
ELEKTRA RECORDS STEREO # EKS 74001
MEGA RARE FIRST STEREO ISSUE PRESSING !!
**********************************************************
This is super rare, very few UK copies made in this format, scant sales, I doubt that many exist.
I'm offering my own copy and it is one of only two I have ever seen.
I have otherwise seen a couple of the red Elektra copies over the years, Gold is rare - especially in Stereo!
Many other artists' rarest lps, if pressed in such small numbers would fetch many times this amount, so a bargain here (indeed some rare 45s sell for more).
LOVE were a brilliant psych band who only became widely known after their first 3 albums were behind them, so sales were limited.
All around they were really special, and mostly under-rated outside of the West Coast scene where they played. Albert Lee was friend to a young Jimi Hendrix.
As many of their tracks reveal - they were competent, fittingly psychedelic, and fascinating. An eclectic band, that had difficulty breaking down racial prejudices in much of the US - ignorant racism was a big issue.
They helped The Doors get noticed in California - very magnanimous to struggle, yet promote another band!
They would not have been touring in The UK for this release, so it was just a few diligent buyers who might have discovered them at this point - their very first record album.
This ORIGINAL UK FIRST PRESSING copy is in great playing condition, it plays and sounds excellent. Signs of their psychedelic leanings are on here, with some really good 'Byrds-like' folk tracks. A very worthwhile debut!
CONDITION;
Vinyl is VG+ to ++, playing great, surface marks do not affect playing which is really nice.
The UK vinyl quality is wonderful, deep grooves make for a truer dimensional, dynamic sound.
Lables are clean EXCELLENT, the first GOLD with black text, big 'E' and with no tears or stickers.
The solid card COVER is EXCELLENT, well preserved! The spine is straight and clear, very light wear only. Top rear has pen impression, not easy to see as it's on the dark background above the 'E'.
Elektra first UK issues were housed in US covers, e.g. Paul Butterfield and Tim Buckley first lps also.
