LOVE – My Little Red Book / Hey Joe – UK 1966 London American HLZ 10053 – Rare Original 7"

A scarce original UK pressing of Love’s “My Little Red Book”, backed with “Hey Joe”, issued by London American Recordings in 1966.

This is the sought-after UK release on HLZ 10053, with the correct matrices:

A-side: 45-MSC-7555-1C
B-side: 45-MSC-7556-1C

An increasingly difficult single to find, particularly as an original UK London American pressing. Recent sales of cleaner copies have reached well into three figures, so this is a good opportunity to pick up an original example at auction without the usual high fixed asking price.

Condition: G+ – conservatively graded

This is a well-played copy and there are numerous visible surface marks, scuffs and hairlines across both sides. I have therefore graded it conservatively at G+ rather than trying to push the grade higher on the strength of playback.

The important thing is that it plays all the way through on both sides without skipping or sticking. There is audible crackle and surface noise, as you would expect from a record in this condition, but the music comes through strongly and it plays considerably better than its appearance might suggest.

The labels are generally presentable for their age, with a small red sticker to the My Little Red Book side. It comes in the pictured vintage London company sleeve.

I have photographed the record closely and under light specifically so that the surface wear can be seen clearly.
