Description
What's on offer?: The SIMPLY FANTASTIC and hugely in demand Psych LP (especially in this condition!!!!) called "Andromeda" by Andromeda. This is a super-rare album rated, along with output from The Open Mind and July, as one of the very best from the 60s Psychedelic genre!!!
This is one of the TRUE HOLY GRAIL items for collectors of PSYCH. It features on many Wants Lists and is, quite simply, an incredible LP!!!!
The copy for auction here is in STUNNING MINT CONDITION. An EX/VG+ copy sold on eBay last year for a whopping UK£560 (US$1048), so read on......
About the LP: Andromeda was a crossover band, transcending the psychedelic and progressive era. The band was formed by John Cann (vocals and guitar) who was previously a member of The Attack. The line-up was completed by Mick Hawksworth (bass and vocals) and Ian McLane (drums). The finest moments of this, their debut album, are "Day Of The Change”, which features some fine discordant guitar work and great vocals, and “Return To Sanity”, which opens with a guitar-driven instrumental passage - similar to Mars from Holst's Planets suite - and more fine guitar work throughout. By contrast there are a couple of more mellow, laid back numbers of note “And Now The Sun Shines” and “The Reason”.
After Andromeda disbanded at the end of 1969, Cann formed Atomic Rooster with Vincent Crane. Hawksworth formed Fuzzy Duck and was later in Ten Years After with Alvin Lee. "Day Of The Change" can also be heard on 'Broken Dreams, Vol. 3' (LP).

This is the ORIGINAL 1969 UK 1st STEREO Pressing on the RCA Victor label SF 8031. Any fan of Andromeda, the Psych sound or 60s music in general, will want to have this in their collection!!!!
Grade (labels): The labels are in PERFECT condition with NO handwriting, NO wear, NO stickers and just a couple of very light spindle marks on either side; a light ink library stamp on both sides proves the fantastic provenance that this LP has!!!
Grade (vinyl): Most LPs from this era were played on a heavy stylus and are usually found worn out, often useless. This LP, however, has had just a couple of plays and retains its just pressed look = STUNNING MINT condition!!!!
Grade (sleeve): The fantastic, front laminated sleeve - with a true Psych design from John Cann himself and a superb photo taken by Gered Mankowitz - is in truly WONDERFUL NEAR MINT condition with NO handwriting, NO wear, NO bends and NO seam splits; just a light ink library stamp and a ‘stereo’ stamp on the back. There are two very small brass rack storage eyelets at the title spine edge, although you'll see from the photo that these are barely noticeable.
Believe me this LP is NOT overgraded in ANY way!!!! I use STRICT Record Collector grading standards - it's simply not in my interest to do otherwise!!!! Brilliant!!!!
