Description

Bill Withers, Just As I Am, 1971 Sussex Stereo SXBS 7006.
This was Withers 1st album. and in my opinion, one of the greatest debut efforts ever put out by an artist. Its production is sparse, usually just Withers on acoustic guitar, with some percussion. There are occasional strings and keyboard. He does have some notable musicians to lend a hand - Booker T. & The MG's, minus guitarist Steve Cropper, but that's OK, as another Steve fills in - Steve Stills.
The songs are deeply personal, soulful, from the heart. Withers penned them all, except for a couple of covers. A masterpiece.
Comes with original picture sleeve.
GRADING, VINYL:
SIDE A) A couple of light scratches that DNAP except: Cut 3 - some light crackling first 12 seconds. No other defects.
SIDE B) A couple of light scratches that DNAP except: Cut 1 - a couple of light intermittent tics around 1:00 to 1:30; Cut 4 - some light intermittent crackling first 45 seconds, then here and there briefly. No other defects.
VINYL GRADE: VG+.
LABEL GRADE: No apparent wear, no spindle wear, both sides. GRADE: EXCELLENT.
COVER GRADE:
FRONT) Light corner wear left and right bottom. Very light ringwear, bottom only.
BACK) No apparent wear.
SPINE) Light wear.
COVER GRADE: VG+ to EXCELLENT.
