I bought this LP new in November 1968.

Cover - Shrink on.  Blue D in a circle, price tag stamp (EJ Korvette stereo), on back cover, top right, to the right of the ATCO.  No writing, no cardboard splitting.  Corner bumps but very little other shelving/handling evidence.

Vinyl - Purple and gold/yellow/tan labels.  Some finger like rubbing, smudges.  Some marks that look like thin scratches, but I heard just a few tics when I listened.  

Sleeve - Clear plastic.

I believe this is a first pressing.  Impossible to prove.  On line has this released in January or February 1968.  Not unreasonable it waited until November for me to grab it.  The Discogs Terre Haute site shows only 1 1968 pressing.  I don’t know just how big of a seller this album was.

Most of us Rock lovers had never heard of Mac Rebennack in 1968.  He was brought up in New Orleans, moved to LA, played piano behind Sonny & Cher early on in their recordings!

Something about this record caught the attention of a few of us.  His whole presentation was weird enough to engage the enlightened (depraved?).

After this he was forever known as Dr. John.  He recorded extensively on his own and as contributor to numerous artists for the rest of his life.
