It’s not very often that I stumble upon a record like this that looks and sounds so interesting. People say that you shouldn’t judge a book (or in this case a record) by it’s cover. But that is pretty difficult when the cover looks like this! The photo on the front is amazing as are the typographical errors and the incorrect track listing on the back. And if all that wasn’t enough, the cover is autographed by all 3: Boss Williams, Jeremy Ferguson, Bill Humes!
Old Man Times by Freeport City Sound has a release date of 1971 on a private press label, FSC Productions. The music is a blend of funk, soul, reggae and island/calypso. The style varies greatly from track to track. The highlight for me is their take on Paul Simon’s “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover“, and "Blowing in the Wind". It’s incredible and I can’t stop listening to it. There’s kind of a deep soul groove on the verses which switches nicely to reggae for the chorus. My jam-of-the-week for sure.

VG++: Vinyl is done by VISUAL & LISTENING, very light wear; very clean, only one or two very light surface marks or very light surface scratches which should not distract significantly from the sound. VG++ : Jacket Cover has very light age, edge, ring wear VG+ : Jacket Cover : has light age, edge, ring wear VG+: VINYL VISUAL & LISTENING, the majority of VG+ VINYL we have graded in our listings will have some overall scuffs/marks that are seen under normal and bright light, there will be several light surface scratches, nothing feelable, most have been playchecked and will play with noise in the trailers and very light/light background in the actual track.
