Description
Vinyl LP: PINK FLOYD "Dark Side Of The Moon" (HARVEST SHVL 804) original UK 1973 FIRST PRESSING
DESCRIPTION You are bidding on a really nice complete copy of a genuine first pressing of this classic album. Serious collectors know what to look for, but I'll identify the parts in the description.
VINYL : Matrix numbers are the very earliest SHVL 804 A-2 and SHVL 804 B-2. Vinyl is in simply stunning condition - absolutely no blemishes. During the ticking clock intro there is no crackle - a stunning MINT MINUS copy.
LABELS : Carry the all important "solid blue" triangle which was later replaced with the common transparent one. Also carries the "GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." edge text. Labels are pristine. A couple of spindle marks are all that shows this copy has even seen a turntable...
COVER : Beautiful "deep blue" gatefold cover, which was later re-printed in plain black - I have attached a scan to show the difference compared to a later stickered sleeve. The gatefold is unsealed AT BOTH ENDS. Contrary to popular belief, the first press came in three variations - copies with the folded over edge, copies with the edge simply glued and copies, like this, which are glued at neither end. The "deep blue colour" is what proves this is a genuine first press sleeve. Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse, this cover shows barely ANY wear, and has the smallest hardly visible 1cm crease on the top right corner, which is all which prevents this from being stone mint. (You will struggle to see this in the photo close-up). A very nice MINT MINUS.
INNER SLEEVE : Comes in original black poly-lined inner sleeve, with white ink printed "PATENT..." and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN". Only very light wear - EXCELLENT+ condition.
INSERTS : Posters are absolutely pristine, look like they've never even been folded open. No creasing or edge wear. Printed onto matt, not gloss, paper - MINT. Stickers are original FIRST PRESS manufactured by "Fasprint" stickers - later editions were not. Again - MINT.
SUMMARY : In summary, a very rare chance to pick up a genuinely M-/M- copy of this classic album - you could wait years for another chance. Low starting price and no reserve. Serious bidders only.
KEYWORDS : Vertigo swirl, Vertigo spiral, Harvest, Dawn, Blue Horizon, Neon, Deram Nova, Nepentha, psychedelic, progressive, blues
PAYMENT : Buyer pays in UK pounds, cheque (in the UK), cash in registered envelope, IMO or Paypal.
POSTAGE : 12"s/LPs : £2.50 (UK), £3.50 (Europe) and £6 (Rest of World) / 7â€s/CDs : £1.50 (UK), £2.50 (Europe) and £3.50 (Rest of World). Double vinyl counts as two etc. Each additional record charged at half price. BUYER MUST PAY FOR INSURANCE.
SMALL PRINT : I am first and foremeost a collector, and grade strictly as I wish everyone would. Records will be well-packed between cardboard, and sent in record mailers. In the interests of the environment, these will be recycled whenever possible. Albums will be removed from outer sleeve to avoid seam splits in transit. All records are sent with a certificate of posting, if you wish additional insurance please ask – I cannot be held responsible for missing parcels.
