The Plasmatics are fucking bonkers. Their mission was to rebuild punk rock as an apocalyptic comic book B-movie nightmare with screaming guitars, revving chainsaws and chant-like lyrics delivered by the high priestess Wendy O. Williams who sings like she has a mouthful of marshmallows and somehow makes everything and anything sound sexual. A common criticism of the band is that they don’t successfully capture the chaos of their live show on record. Absolute bollocks.

New Hope for the Wretched is the debut album by punk-metal band The Plasmatics, fronted by the infamous Wendy O. Williams. The front woman is also credited on the sleeve as playing the chainsaw and machine gun! A hint at how raucous and rowdy their live shows and albums were. This is some fast and furious Rock N' Roll, and Wendy O's gruff vocals perfectly compliment the music. (plastichead.com)
