For a Mötley Crüe – Girls, Girls, Girls LP with the specific DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) technology and the original Hype Sticker, you are looking at a quintessential piece of "Hair Metal" history.
In the collector's market, the DMM pressing is highly sought after because it offers a significantly higher fidelity, brighter high-end, and less surface noise compared to standard lacquer cuts of the era.
Album & Artist Summary
-
The Artist: By 1987, Mötley Crüe was the undisputed king of the Sunset Strip. This album caught them at their most decadent—Nikki Sixx was deep in his "Heroin Diaries" era, and the band had pivoted from the "glam" of Theatre of Pain to a grittier, Harley-Davidson-inspired biker aesthetic.
-
The Album: Released May 15, 1987, it debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. It is a bluesier, raunchier record featuring massive hits like "Wild Side" and the title track "Girls, Girls, Girls." * Technical Merit: This was one of the early major rock releases to lean heavily into Direct Metal Mastering. Mastered at Masterdisk by the legendary Bob Ludwig, the DMM process involves cutting the music directly into a copper disc rather than a soft acetate lacquer, preserving more detail and transient response.
