Description

LP SONNY ROLLINS: Saxophone Colossus

Issued on Prestige label PRLP-7079 in US.

Original vintage issue, not a re-issue.

Deep groove label, RVG on the run out groove, 446 W. 50th St. address text on label.

Very rare classic jazz record in great shape.

condition

Cover            VERY GOOD+                   nice condition, there is no seam splits, no writing, no dirt, the bottom right corner shows some wear and a very small lifting of laminate above it on the opening edge, top left corner slight peeling, overall superb, very  clean and representable for your collection

Disc               VERY GOOD+                   great condition, only some very light scuffs or small hairlines visible only when studied under bright spotlight, not visible under normal room lighting, nothing dramatic, no scrathes, well preserved and played with care, conservatively graded vg+  (I don't use vg++ or such), very nice item for your collection

The original inner sleeve is also in superb condition

Comes from a nice collection with other Prestige and Blue Note records listed here. They all are in very collectable condition.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is a vintage heavyweight record, and it must be packed properly.  The weight of the package will be more than 500 grams. So it must be considered as 2 records when calculated the postage fee.

Additional info on the audio.

Q: thanks- i'm also interested in play grading of your saxophone colossus album if possible

Hi, it plays great. There are no audible marks on the surface. Seldom a single slight noise that is normal when playing vinyl records, but not repeated. I have not cleaned it. I would say excellent audio. Difficult to grade, depending much on the record player. But overall the record has very nice audio, at least as nice as visually, maybe one point better. Regards, HK.

More information on the cover.
The only difference compared to a perfect cover are the 4 corners, that show more or less wear (white), and the small lifting of the laminate on the opening edge. There are 2 small stains on the gray area near the upper left corner on back cover (faintly visible on the photo). Overall the cover is well above the average level, and a gorgeous collectors' item, graded conservatively vg+ as it should be.

On Oct-23-10 at 17:14:18 PDT, seller added the following information:

There was a question about flat edges. I understand now it's the structure of the cover.
I have checked the cover now:

Hi, actually when you angle the back cover against light, there are about 1,6 cm (or less than 3/4 inch) lips or frames visible on three sides.  Regards, HK.
