(THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION.) by (THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION. )...... ....(A FAN SAYS: An early Country Rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966 from several folk groups operating in the area. The chief members of Lewis and Clark were actually song writer Micheal Murphy, who later hit it big with the #1 "Wild Fire" and Owen Castleman both from Texas and friends with fellow musician..Monkee Michael Nesmith...thus the connection with Colgems. There were big plans for the band, as they were marketed to young girls as another Monkees and also as a cutting edge Country Rock band, but other than a minor hit with "I Feel Good (I Feel Bad)" all the rest of their singles flopped and the band was soon dropped by the label. Members going on to Nesmith's the First National Band, the Dillards, backing Earl Scruggs and M. Murphy's recordings. Twelve original songs including the non-charting "Freedom Bird", "Spirit of Argyle High", "House of My Sorrow", "(I Call Them) Lies" and the four part song "Memorial to the American Indian". Actually a very good album, a bit laid back but not poppy. DISC & SL VG+++ TO M- ).......
