Description

Mercury Records stereo two disc set SR2-901 with earliest gold label discs, pressed in the US.  Stampers are RFR-1, RFR-1, RFR-2 RFR-1.  Original issue in deluxe gatefold jacket with ribbon closure. 

"The Civil War, Its Music and its Sounds", volume 1.  Frederick Fennell conducts the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Martin Gabel, narrator.  See pics for program details.  Great sound.  Listed in The Absolute Sound Super Disc List.

You can tell that this is an extremely early pressing, because it includes a coupon, good for $1.00 off the price of volume II.  Volume II was issued only a few months after volume I.  I have never seen this coupon before.  See pics. 

Discs NM to NM- a faint bit of foxing has no effect on play-play-graded, gatefold jacket VG++, with ribbons and cardboard insert.  Booklet included.

Very nice copy of the earliest issue.
