Description
RCA Living Stereo LSC 2436, with shaded dog label, pressed in the US. Stampers are 5s 5s. Fritz Reiner conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Respighi's Pines of Rome and Fountains of Rome.
This pressing was cut at the same level as the 1s pressing. The 1s discs were pressed in RCA's Indianapolis plant, the 5s was made at the Rockaway, New Jersey plant. The immense dynamic range on this record was too much for many people's record players in 1960, so shortly after this recording was issued, RCA recalled both the 1s and 5s pressings and remastered it at a lower level. Of course, on modern equipment, there is no problem tracking the higher level, making these early issues some of the greatest and most sought-after of the Living Stereos.
Disc is NM, jacket VG++
