Description
RTI Test Pressing from Classic Records pressed on 180g vinyl. The jacket reads Feb 16 1996 LSP-2438A2/B2. So as you can see in the pictures, initially this album was sealed. When I purchased this from the seller responsible for the Hobson Archive (see below) the album was listed as A2/B2. Sometimes Classic Records would press single albums on two pieces of vinyl, on single sided vinyl or at 45. Upon arrival I saw the issue with the jacket and discovered a test defect in the mislabeled sleeve. I checked this album out on discogs
https://www.discogs.com/release/3117735-Paul-Desmond-With-Strings-Desmond-Blue.
This discogs page confirms the track numbers per side (5 on the A and 4 on the B) and the runout has been confirmed as well on both sides with the A-side reading LSP 2438-A BG and the B-side reading LSP 2438-B BG.
A visual inspection does reveal some surface marks and the vinyl does need to be cleaned (I wasn't touching it beyond the pictures) however I saw nothing that should drive the grade below EX (Classic Records always have surface marks, even their Zeppelin albums).
The MH 1 of 1 sticker on the back is relative to this pressing having been part of the Michael Hobson Archive, a collection amassed by the founder of Classic Records. These vinyl occasionally become available and are authenticated by the sticker on the rear of the jacket which Hobson has initialed
Album will be mailed between cardboard and bubble wrap in a reinforced cardboard mailer. If you have any other questions please let me know and thanks for looking!
