LUBRICANTS / MODERN PHYSICS
Activated Energy 7" KBD 1980
1980 US punk 45 by The Lubricants (previously Modern Physics), a band from Milwaukee, WI.
Tracks are: Activated Energy b/w Transformation Vacation.
On Relative Records, Chicago. Catalog number EMC2-007.
This is the first press of this record.
A rectangular white label with "LUBRICANTS" in black text is adhered over the band's previous name Modern Physics on both sides of the record.
The picture sleeve is a simple folded sheet with a band photo on the front and titles/credits on the back. Aside from some very minor discoloration at the fold due to age, the condition is near mint. The disc shows no sign of play (possibly never played), and easily grades as mint (which I generally call near mint).
The bottom line is that this record is beautiful and in the kind of quality condition that all collectors want.

Excerpt: First sleeve with original band name "Modern Physics", then changed due to name change short after release of record (band name on labels covered with stickers). Reissue has a plain red sleeve (according to Int Disc - I've never seen that one). 2000 reissue has yet another different sleeve with the band logo getting larger from left to right.
Rough & noisy punk with some rock influence (guitar solos). Kinda simple at times, still a good record.
Additionally, these tracks were featured on the Killed By Death compilations #12 and #18.
