LUCKY THOMPSON – VOL. 1 FEATURING OSCAR PETTIFORD - ABC PARAMOUNT 111 – EX/VG+ - MONO
There are two sessions on this LP. The first, recorded on January 24, 1956 features Lucky Thompson on tenor, Skeeter Best on guitar and Oscar Pettiford on bass. They perform: TRICROTISM, BO-BI MY BOY; A LADY’S VANITY (BODY & SOUL) and OP MEETS LT. The second session was recorded on January 30, 1956, again featuring Lucky Thompson on tenor, Jimmy Cleveland on trombone, Hank Jones on piano, Oscar Pettiford on bass and Osie Johnson on drums. They’re selections are: TOM-CATTIN; OLD RELEABLE; DEEP PASSION and TRANSLATION. This is a MONO recording.
I’ve graded this LP as Ex and the record jacket as VG+ for the following reasons. The vinyl on the LP is clean of any marks on both sides of the LP. There are marks around the spindle hole on both sides of the LP. The vinyl still retains its original luster. The record jacket was graded as VG+ as there is wear on the top and bottom seams. There is a slight tear in the cover on the upper left corner and some slight damage on the very top of the back on the record jacket, just above the liner notes. Written in ink, just below “A LADY’S VANITY” is “changes to Body and Soul”. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks.
