Sometimes something comes crawling across your desk that makes you take serious notice and propel you into something. Every time Lacuna Coil puts out a new album I'm always on board and ready to review it, even if I've been out of that particular line of work for a little bit (and now remember why I loved reviewing music
to begin with).

The album opener 'The House of Shame' hits relentlessly hard. Andrea's going full force here, bringing back the growls and harder vocals than we've heard to date. Cristina soars in and raises the song up yet a higher level with her vocal pieces. It's one of the most solid tracks on the album and a good piece to set you up
for the rest of the album.

'Broken Things' kicks down the door of your expectations that was hanging on by a thread from the last song's assault. Andi opens the track and then hands the reins off to Cristina, and man does she shine. The song's got some layered complexity with the music and could be grown up kin from the Comalies era of the band. Like the previous track there's an aggression here that's really working well for the band.

"Delirium" is a trip into madness of sorts. At first I found it monotonous and was annoyed, yet the the more I listened the more I liked it. The repetitive line of the title of the song will drive you mad, and I personally believe that's exactly what they were going for.

Electronic experimentation is present in 'Blood, Tears, Dust' and the song has a life of its own. Cristina's hitting high notes flawlessly and Mark Vollelunga's guitar work on the song is the cherry on top of a perfect piece. 'Downfall' could easily find its home on a really good soundtrack. It's got some great melody and will, in my opinion appeal to fans of their Unleashed Memories album. Such a strikingly beautiful song and is one of my personal favorites on the album.

'Take Me Home' is going to get stuck in your head, guaranteed. It's got a good dash of creepy and a touch of madness that would be fitting to be playing in the background while reading a number of books, Alice in Wonderland or getting lost in the sanitarium of your mind.

'You Love Me 'Cause I Hate You' is deviant, depraved and could be fitting of Stephen King's Misery.
'My Demons' is phenomenal. It's very much a signature styled song from the band and you'll not be left disappointed. Andi's got some nice vocal displays in the piece and Cristina sounds ethereal. If they do a video and another single I hope this is selected!

There are those albums where the anticipation is so extreme you wonder if they're going to live up to the hype. Without a doubt Delirium is one of those. The visuals it paints on my imagination are deep, dark and wonderful. There's a new energy to the band and as Andi said, Delirium is not the beginning of a new chapter in the band's life; it is the beginning of a new book!
