Lady Gaga - Artpop Vinyl LP.
Artpop (Interscope/Universal) is the highly anticipated third full-length album from pop superstar Lady Gaga following the breakout global smashes The Fame (2008) and Born This Way (2011). The 15-song set debuted at No. 1 in both the U.S and the U.K. and features production from Madeon, Zedd, RedOne, DJ White Shadow and Rick Rubin as well as guest appearances by R. Kelly, T.I., Twista, and Too $hort. Includes the preceding hit singles "Applause" and "Do What U Want."
Lady Gaga explains that, "the point of Artpop is that art and pop can have an exchange,” and Billboard notes that "when she successfully mixes the art with the pop...the results are often euphoric...Coherently channeling R&B, techno, disco and rock music as a pop artist while discussing sex, drugs, lust, God, fame and creativity, Lady Gaga has offered fans her most sonically and lyrically diverse album to date."
"Ardent Gagademics will likely spot all sorts of thematic singularities and hidden throughlines in the album’s 15 tracks - if Gaga took anything truly indispensable from Madonna, it’s the ability to ensure that the discourse surrounding her work is far more complex than anything contained in, or directly suggested by, the work itself - but the recording seems to follow a pretty well-defined three-part structure. The first third contains the disc’s boldest experiments. The middle third, by far the album’s most successful sequence, focuses on sheer dance tracks, ably abetted by producer DJ White Shadow. And the final stretch revels in the self-reflexive myth-making and theatricality that dominated her previous release, Born This Way.” - Andrew Barker, Variety
