Description
Randy Weston "Uhuru Afrika" 1961 Roulette Records R 65001 mono. A rare white-label promotional copy of this incredible and historic cutting edge project, years ahead of any time, based on Weston's music and the poetry of the great Langston Hughes. The recording attracted the best players of the day to the studio, including Clark Terry, Freddie Hubbard, Slide Hampton, Yusef Lateef, Bud Johnson, Kenny Burrell, Julius Watkins, Ron Carter, Max Roach and many, many others. Gatefold sleeve is in really good shape, with nothing significant to complain about, just the very lightest scuff here and there, a promo stamp inside the fold (see photos), an Excellent minus (EX-) sleeve. Vinyl is also quite nice. There's a noticeable "bug splat" scratch on the first cut, but thankfully it doesn't derail the play back and only clicks for about 10 seconds. The rest is visually really fine, with only a light to moderate crackle here and there on play back tucked under the louder and super interesting musical content, overall a strong Very Good plus (VG+). Just cleaned with a VPI wet-vac system. I'll pay the shipping via USPS Media Mail.
