Description
This is the UK Led Zeppelin 1 withdrawn turquoise cover with the even rarer 1st press unaltered matrix record. No reserve auction, it will go for the price that the market can bear.
The labels do have the "superhype" credits. Looking down at the labels underneath a light , it looks stunning and vibrant. When I turn it to the side I see spindle marks on side 1 (it appears as if it has been played once and a quarter inch scratch on side 1 label but only surface scratch) and non on side 2. There are very minor marks on the labels from an angle, but again, you have to look at it from an angle to notice them.
The vinyl itself is not mint, but plays mint with no skips, jumps or ticks whatsoever. In fact if you look at the side 2 label picture, the spindle hole still retains the "virgin wax" So side 2 has been played maybe a couple times most. Side 1 has about 2 very minor hairline scuffs that do not effect play, and side 2 has no scratches, but a few very very minor scuffs. (again you have to look under a light at an angle to see the scuff-from inner sleeve)
Side 1 matrix numbers : machine stamped 588171 A//1 after that machine stamped 1 2 2
Side 2 matrix numbers : machine stamped 588171 B//1 after that machine stamped 1 S 8?
There is no cross out of numbers anywere, this is an absolute first pressing
The cover does have a couple issues but in my opinion it is nothing major at all. First of there are no tears anywhere. There are laminate creases but they are minimal. The laminate creases are mainly at the corners of the cover. It appears the original price tag was put on the front right corner and was taken off. It did not tear the cover but the glued paper remains. Very very small. There are no seam splits or spine splits. There is some minor ring wear on both sides. The back bottom right hand side of the cover still has the original sticker from where the record was originally bought. This was bought from Harlequin records shops in England. Please see picture for details of record shop and sticker.
The inner sleeve I cannot verify if it is the original. It does not have the blue writing like the others I've seen, but it does say made in Great Britain, and the patent number is 1,125,555
