Welcome to my auction for this Led Zeppelin II Album from my personal collection. Before you read about all the details of this listing let me say the Audio quality on this vinyl is outstanding, EX+ condition which is very rarely found on these early Rock albums today. Both surfaces are truly stunning, as you would expect from a vinyl of limited play. So please scroll down for more information on this Gem.

Led Zeppelin II is the bands second studio recorded album on Red and Maroon Atlantic label. This pressing I have for auction sale is the Later pressing on red - maroon label with A3 as "The Lemon Song" and B2 as "Livin' Lovin' Maid (She's A Woman)" on both sleeve and side two label

Light Brown Unlaminated Gatefold Sleeve Printed by E.J Day Group London W11 and without Stereo on the front. Also has 'UPTIGHT AN' OUTASIGHT' is the official Atlantic Appreciation Society at 17/19 Stratford place London W1 printed on the inside if the gatefold. 

The tracks were recorded at various studios in the United Kingdom & North America, Olympic Studios in London, Morgan Studios in London, A&R Studios in New York, Juggy Sound in New York, Mirror Sounds in Los Angeles and at Atlantics own Studios in New York. All tracks are Credited to the Band members and were written whilst on tour across Europe and America  which had started from January through to August of 1969 . It was a fairly hectic tour for the band, but some interesting ideas came about whilst on this tour for the follow up to their brilliant Debut album. A lot of the tracks were written in hotel rooms and Jimmy experimented with complex guitar rifts live on stage at those concerts of 69 for the album.

When completed the second album sold well, and preplaced orders sold out quickly it was a real triumph for Led Zeppelin. The complex tracks on this second album still reflected the Bands roots of Blues and Folk rock but the buyers of this second album, had more than was expected from Led Zeppelin, simply put a work of brilliance.

FRONT OF SLEEVE

The sleeve design has the handy work by David Juniper all over it. He took an original WW1 Jagdstffel German Air Force photograph and airbrushed out the aeroplane they stand in front of, replaced faces of the original group of pilots that were led by the Red Baron, and replaces them with the four band members and also Blind Willie Johnson, Neil Armstrong  and Mary Woronov the blonde one who was a friend of Andy Warhol.

The similar image of the Hindenburg Airship as used on their debut album, wraps around the back of the sleeve, the explosion is airbrushed into the design of the front to complete the background of the gatefold.

Another small and over looked design element of this sleeve can be found a the bottom and for such a small design it has a lot of detail.

The inside of the gatefold is again designed around the Zeppelin, this time floating above a monument to the band, with the album tracks and credits within the depicted stone plinth to the right.

VISUAL CONDITION - GRADING OF GATEFOLD SLEEVE

The Gatefold is in excellent condition very little handling wear or rubbing of the print. The corners have the faintest of wear and the macro images below show this to be minor. The sleeve is clean and free from creases and writing both inside and out, the spine is in excellent condition also.

VISUAL & AUDIO GRADING OF THE VINYL

The Visual

The vinyl surfaces look almost perfect, just one extremely faint sleeve removal line on side one. The labels are both clean, free from writing and only a couple of wisps of spindle lines. The groove look extremely clean after all this time in storage.

The Audio Test Side One

 Some very slight static ticks in the run in and then all goes quite, next thing you'll hear is Robert Plant Cough then the clarity of "Whole lotta Love" is amazing. The intro to "What Is And What Should Never Be" is very quiet, there are no ticks from static at all during this section or in the even during the quieter parts of this track, it's Perfect. "The Lemon Song" starts and again without and ticks of any sort. The track "Thank You" fades to almost silent in places, this where this vinyl has it test, again Perfect. No background noise anywhere on side one, excellent sound separation clarity throughout. Side One Mint Condition 

The Audio Test Side Two

"Heartbreaker" starts off the side two, loud, and the clarity is excellent, I can hear a couple of faint ticks from static as it fades out. "Livin' Lovin' Maid (She's A Woman)" plays clearly throughout. "Ramble On" is brilliant all the way through. "Moby Dick" a couple of faint ticks during the quitter parts of John Bonham's drum solo but are not long lasting. "Bring It On Home" has a quitter intro than the other track and I can hear only a few very faint static ticks, but extremely  faint. POSTAGE AND PACKING

Postage within the UK for this record is £3.65 for recorded delivery. My standard record mailer packaging is not charged for. Your record will be packed to a high a standard. I only use brand new high quality record mailers. All records are removed from Cover sleeve before packing. The record and its sleeve are sealed in a plastic outer to prevent any possible moisture touching this record during postage. I use stiffeners to protect the record. I can combine postage for more than one record, costs varies for weight, so please message me. I can also for extra cost pack your record into mailing box for added protection. Records can be insured before mailing at extra cost. All records sent Overseas will be packed as above, however mailing boxes are better for long-haul shipments. I will use Royal Mail, either Airmail or Airsure please message me for postage costs for these shipping costs. Example of packaging below. 

PAYMENT

Payment through Paypal and this must be within 3 days of winning the Item, however if this not possible please contact me to make an alternative arrangements for payment or to change the payment date. RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD the record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover suffers from folding scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.
