Description
I’m selling several duplicated copies over the next while, from a large Led Zeppelin collection, mainly from my late Father’s record shop in the 1960s and 70s. All selling with full, no nonsense descriptions so you know what to expect and enjoy as I have.
A very rare PYE copy with an upside down gatefold inner panel, plus a green spine & green tinting to part of the front cover.
Probably very few ever existed, I’ve found no information about this combination online, including discogs website.
All LPs play tested during the pandemic, which I’ll now repeat before selling. See detailed audio notes below.

KT was a tax code for “luxury items” before VAT was introduced in 1973 and was regularly seen on records of this vintage.
GRADING
Will be accurately and honestly graded according to the RECORD COLLECTOR'S GRADING SYSTEM shown below:

Record is used so grade not applicable.
EXCELLENT
Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD
Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD
Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR

CONDITION:
Please use the photos as well as reading the description.
COVER: GOOD+
Wear to all edges. Opening edge (unusually on the front cover) not perfectly straight. Marks, stains and wear to front and back panels. Spine still has most of the writing but has moderate wear. Light brown background indicates it’s the earliest print.
Record vault stored for 40+ years.
INNER: VG+.
Original. Staining to mainly top and bottom and multiple staining dots on the rear. Despite this it’s one of the better ones I’ve seen.
LABELS: VG.
Clean and bright. Several spindle marks on both sides. Side 2 has bubbling around its perimeter.
VINYL: VG
Looks decent in normal bright daylight. Tried to show a few light marks, scuffs and very light non-sounding scratches, more visible under intense sunlight in some photos.
AUDIO:
Subjected to critical and repeated listening on decent mid-range stuff (Rega P6/ND7, Cyrus i9-XR, ProAc D30RS, bi-wired Chord Signature) at -35dB (about 80dB)
GOOD.
Technically accurate, quote “Some distortion and mild scratches” and other deviations, but please read on, it’s a very small fraction of the audio and the remainder is VG+ at least.
Pye copies were produced from a new master lacquer rather than the normal A2/B2 one. Audio is even more “ballsy” with a deeper bass on my system compared to my A2/B2 copies.
Side1 Track 1
Slight crackle for a few seconds during the intro.
Slight crackle for a few seconds during the quiet section after half way.
Nothing else of note. Still gave it EX
T2
Crackle for 1 second in a quiet pause about half way.
A few light ticks on fade out.
Nothing else of note. EX
2 heavy pops between T2 & T3 then:

1 heavy pop precisely at start plus 3 more fading pops.
Important you read this: On my previous player, Rega P3/Exact cart, the heavy pop caused a skip, missing the first 1.8 seconds (1 rev)
P6/Nd7 precisely set up does not skip. Tried it 5 times.
Nothing else of note.
FAIR due to possible skip on your record player.
T4
Slight crackle 1st 10 seconds in quite intro.
Slight crackle few seconds, first verse & several light ticks.
Slight random occasional crackle rest of track.
Slight distortion on some organ notes in last 30s.
Few light ticks then silent before final note that is distorted.
GOOD due to distortion. Vast majority VG+
Side2 Track1
Very light crackle during guitar solo with final solo note lightly distorted.
Nothing else of note EX.
T2
Nothing of note. EX+
T3
16 medium ticks (27s) at end of fade out. Nothing else of note. VG
T4
Random very light & occasional background crackle during solo & 2 pops.
Nothing else of note. EX
T5
Occasional light random crackle first 90s.
Light background crackle for 30s before loud section starts.
Few seconds of light crackle in quiet final section.
Nothing else of note. VG.
Despite all the above observations, like me, you should find this record will not disappoint and still presents an enjoyable listen. If you strongly believe my description is misleading please return it in the condition you found it in.
A recycled Musicmax QP2 record carton will be used to post.
