Description

Led Zeppelin 4 LP 1st PRESS 1971 PLUM RED - RARE UK PRESSING ORIGINAL RECORD

Great Playing Record! Great Cover. Original Red Plum Labels

-

'Following the staggering reunion triumph at the O2, with interest in Led Zeppelin greater than ever, with the site for the Ahmettribute.com tribute concert receiving an unbelievable 120 million hits, with 25 million people apparently registering for a Zeppelin ticket, its as good a time as any to invest in an original copy early press of this classic Zep album.'

-

Original Year and Date of Release: November 8th 1971

CAT NO:....2401012 Stereo A-3 / B-3 ..ATLANTIC, MADE IN GT BRITAIN.

RARE CORRECTED MATRIX VERSION;

the first side's matrix numbers, instead of the correct, "- A - 3", ends with "- B - 1"! This was spotted as well and where Atlantic determined to get these few records out and sold! That ending was over stamped with 'XX' and the correct ending "- A - 3" was stamped to the immediate right, you can still see the incorrect stamping. This matrix info makes this the very first record made, well before the later stickered copies

This vintage copy has the PECKO DUCK and PORKY etchings on the run out grooves of side 1 and 2 respectively.

-

Track Listing: Side 1: Black Dog; Rock and Roll; The Battle of Evermore; Stairway to Heaven. Side 2: Misty Mountain Hop; Four Sticks; Going to California; When the Levee Breaks.

THE RECORD - VERY GOOD PLUS to EXCELLENT CONDITION.

a lovely piece of glossy vinyl. some light scuffs hairlines, but none very obvious. A really good example

Album Played For Grading: Yes – brilliant! - EXCELLENT sound quality throughout

This great record plays up to the high visual grading and beyond . Strong, undistorted sound free of pops or clicks. The record plays with staggering power, with a minimum of any surface sound during the tracks. high quality vibrant sound throughout. Superb audio with hardly any surface noise between tracks

A great all round example of this great Zeppelin vinyl. staggering first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact.

-

THE COVER - VERY GOOD PLUS

this is a pretty nice cover too. gatefold format, unlaminated, flat matt finish. Comes with the dark inner. Printed in Great Britain, there is some light scuffing to the corners, and some light rubbing along the edges. the opening edge is square and un frayed. the back cover is nice and clean, with minimal ring wear, which is very unusual for these delicate covers. the inside is clean and unmarked. the Spine shows minimal wear only, with just a bit of rubbing at the corners. There is a mark on the top right hand corner of the front, where someone has removed a sticker. a good solid example. all round

-

THE LABELS - EXCELLENT CONDITION condition. stunning, hardly any spindle traces at all. the 1960's red & maroon colours of the Atlantic label are only on original pressings, they were re-designed to orange and green colours in late 1971.

-

INNER SLEEVE - VERY GOOD Original inner sleeve has NOT been taped up but it is split along the side and bottom length (in the middle). record is protected in a new inner sleeve, separate from the original

-

NO TEARS, NO STICKS OR JUMPS, NO STICKERS, NO SEAM SPLITS - GUARANTEED

Vinyl. - large format covers with the original sound and mix of the highest quality sound.

Please note. I have described this vinyl as honestly and accurately as possible. Please allow for occasional static (possibly giving a very light crackle) that will nearly always be found on vinyl, No matter how perfect an example it is, or how well it has been looked after

Static caused by dust in the grooves of the vinyl, is not the same as mechanical damage to the vinyl, i.e. a tick or jump caused by a deep scratch or chip.

MY RECORD GRADING SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS - (BASED ON RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE U.K. )

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.

FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
