Led Zeppelin 4 charted at 1 in the UK and 2 in the US, with a status as one of the greatest rock albums ever. A diverse work of astonishing musical beauty, it has held its’ power to delight and surprise when heard in clear detail.

'Following the staggering reunion triumph at the O2, which I was lucky enough to be at, with interest in Led Zeppelin greater than ever, with the site for the Ahmettribute.com tribute concert receiving an unbelievable 120 million hits, with 25 million people apparently registering for a Zeppelin ticket, its as good a time as any to invest in an original copy early press of this classic Zep album.'
.
.
An exceptional copy from Led Zeppelin, in very clean condition, that plays great from start to finish.
"Four Symbols" spent an amazing 57 weeks in the UK charts. The green & orange label pressing's would far outsell the red and maroon colour early pressing's. The Plum label variants were only available for 12 of the 57 weeks, during which time Atlantic prepared to launch their new labels and the new catalogue numbers.
Label changes usually took place incrementally, with a necessary cross over period needed to bridge the change of the records and covers already in record shops, taking into account the most recent releases that were still selling.
The classic Plum label design was changed by Atlantic to a green & orange colour in March, 1972, when the second pressings of "4 Symbols" were made, with a new catalogue number, 'K 5008,' replacing the first issue's 'De Luxe 2401 012.'

THE RECORD – NR MINT
TO GO ALONG WITH THE STUNNING COVER AND INNER SLEEVE WE HAVE A WONDERFUL VERY RARE PIECE OF VINYL.
This is a stunning piece of glossy vinyl. Largely unmarked apart from a couple of the faintest handling marks only, that can only be seen directly under an extremely very strong spot light. A really wonderful example.
On initial inspection the vinyl looks totally unmarked without a blemish. Fantastic, Top quality vibrant sound throughout. Supreme audio with nothing to distract form the overly enjoyment of this record.
Super clean, shiny, jet black and very solidly pressed, this copy has barely been played.
.
.
.
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:
Yes – brilliant! - NEAR MINT sound quality throughout
.
.
This beautiful record plays up to its high visual grading and beyond. This must be the cleanest and best sounding copy all round I have ever heard, with vibrant audio throughout. Strong, undistorted sound, the frequencies are sharp and clear and free of noticeable pops or clicks. There is barely any surface sounds at all.
The start of the record on both sides is amazing, with a virtually silent run ins. Its even passes the “Stairway test”, - the beginning of ‘Stairway To Heaven’ is practically silent. The channels are clean and unstressed with no evidence of any groove-wear whatsoever.
The record plays with staggering power, with virtually no surface sound during the tracks.
The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear.
This is a great Audio pleasure!
A great all round example of this great Zeppelin vinyl, and a staggering first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues that lack the impact and the clarity of sound.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:
Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

.
THE COVER – Near MINT
This is an OUTSTANDING cover too. I would say it would be near impossible to find another one like this, in this amazing condition.
.
.
.
Gatefold format, unlaminated, flat matt finish. Comes with the dark near black inner. Printed in Great Britain. The Matt finish covers of Zep 4 have to be one of the most prone to wear of all the classic vinyls from the sixties and early seventies. They do not fare quite as badly as the original Zep 2 covers, but none the less, they usually come pretty knackered.
Any serious collector will easily know that original press Zep 4 covers are irreplaceable. Made out of unique and totally un missable matt card with a colouration that is unique to the first press plum editions, they are un mistakably different to all later pressings.
Not having the advantage of being laminated, these covers usually faired pretty badly, with serious ring wear and destruction to the edges. The Spines are nearly always flattened, worn and torn. Not this one! It’s a complete exception to the rule.
This original Plum press cover has NO scuffing to the corners, NO rubbing along the edges, NO creases or wear at the opening.
.
.
.
The opening edges are very square and totally un frayed. The rear of the cover is nice and clean, with NO ring wear, only one slightest little crease at the top edge. This cover really is as near perfect as you will EVER find. You could almost believe it is brand new. Even the spine is perfect. Square and un damaged, absolutely astonishing. I guarantee you will not find better one.
The inside Gatefold is clean and totally unmarked.
All round, this is a unbelievable cover. An absolute cracker in virtually perfect condition. As pristine as you could hope for!!!
.
.
.
THE LABELS - Nr MINT CONDITION
Stunning labels, hardly any spindle traces at all, virtually un detectable. The 1960's red & maroon colours of the Atlantic label are only original pressings, they were re-designed to orange and green colours in late 1971. All the colour is deep and un eroded.
.
.
.
These wonderful record labels also hold another Rare quality. They come with the MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP LABEL ERROR. On a small number of pressings the record was pressed with the label error, that stated Top, instead of Hop.
.
.
THE INNER
NEAR MINT – AS NEAR TO PERFECT AS YOU WILL EVER FIND!
.
.
.
Thick grey paper inner with track listings and Stairway to Heaven lyrics. Flipbacks to both sides. No catalogue number.
I often wonder if the Zep team were having a laugh when they came up with the inner sleeve of Zeppelin 4. Beautiful though it is, as is clearly illustrated with this fantastic example, they were destined to disintegrate almost as soon as they left the factory.
They are notoriously fragile and rarely, if ever, found un split, un torn or un creased. So often examples are found where the original owners put clear tape on at least the bottom edge and often on some of the sides too, simply to reinforce the delicate seams in a bid to try and prevent splitting. Always a terrible idea!
I imagine that often the vulnerable soft card inners would be split by the record, as the record often moved in the cover in transit to the retail outlets. Rarely would owners have the inclination or foresight to remove the record from its original inner, and store it in a standard plain polylined substitute, as has been done with this one.
.
.
.
This, is an astonishing example. I would say near impossible to find a better copy of this rare fragile inner. This is the dark early example, I would say that this is the only inner for Zep 4 that I have yet seen that’s totally unsplit and un creased.
This inner is truly stunning, Even the top entry edge is unsoftened or feathered.
I can confirm from a thorough careful inspection, inside and out, that this great inner sleeve has no clever repairs or hidden damage – guaranteed. with not one single ray of light shining inside the sleeve, when carefully opened up to the light. Incredible.!!!
The dual flipbacks are near perfect, both solidly stuck down, unruffled or frayed.
later inner sleeves had a far lighter finish and are far more common, and green orange inners did come with the later catalogue number.
You wont find an original in better condition than this.
.
.
RARITY
A plum LZ 4 in this type of condition is has to be a one off. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any Plum examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays practically perfectly, is very rare. What is certain, any plum copy will blow away the orange and green pressings that followed from 1971.
The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is one of the better examples. Finding a great cover like this, with a stunning piece of vinyl, fantastic!.
Finding great Plum copies of Zep 4 is becoming increasingly rare. Finding a copy that sounds this clear is unbelievably rare. You would be hard pressed to find a copy that came near to this in sound quality. All of this with the rare MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP LABEL ERROR!!!
On top of that, a PLUM copy with a MINT inner and unbelievably un marked cover. WOW! This must be a one off!
.
NO TEARS, NO WRITING, NO STICKERS, NO SEAM SPLITS, NO JUMPS OR STICKS - GUARANTEED!

VINYL
large format covers with the original sound and mix of the highest quality sound.
Please note. I have described this vinyl as honestly and accurately as possible. Please allow for occasional static (possibly giving a very light crackle) that will nearly always be found on vinyl, No matter how perfect an example it is, or how well it has been looked after.
Static caused by dust in the grooves of the vinyl, is not the same as mechanical damage to the vinyl, i.e. a tick or jump caused by a deep scratch or chip.
