Description

An original 1st French press of HOTH on the Atlantic label pressed by MPO. Matrix A/B - very 1st cut. Please note that very 1st pressings of HOTH in France mention that the album title is 'House of The Holy' - i.e. singular. This is corrected on all later copies and alludes to this example being from the 1st batch. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original matt gatefold over. There is NO lyric inner unfortunately.
Vinyl (Ex+) I've always been quite impressed with the 1st French pressing. It seems to be right up there with those early UK copies for audio quality - MPO know what they're doing clearly. This Lp has seen only very light use and consequently is very well preserved. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very light marks in places - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. HOTH is a very fussy record and only a well preserved looking record is going to stand half a chance of delivering a properly clean rendition. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This a super performer delivering all tracks, even those tricky ones like "No QTR", with a clean background. Very impressive and, I'd imagine, hard to find in this sort of condition. Interference is largely absent. I couldn't make out more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. A beautiful rendition from this French 1st press and I'd imagine very hard to equal, let alone better.
Cover (Ex-) In great condition and has survived the years in impressive condition. A touch of light handling front and back, but nothing really all that noticeable. The interior looks great - no issues. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine is not suffering much wear at all. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine specimen.
Inner [Generic white] (Ex) No splits. Hardly any ageing.
