Description
This is an original U.S. pressing of Led Zeppelin II from 1969, catalog no. SD 8236. This is the infamous Robert Ludwig “RL Hot Mix/Master” pressing mastered at Sterling Sound that was recalled early on due to skipping on cheap record players. This particular copy was pressed at the Columbia Terre Haute plant and has Robert Ludwig’s initials on Side 1 and Lee Hulko’s initials on Side 2; Ludwig himself said that Hulko often used his mastering notes so their cuts should be sonically identical.
The record has noticeable scuffs and scratches all over the playback surface, but did not skip on my turntable (record may or may not skip depending on your setup). Record has surface noise and crackle often drowned out by music; listening grade is VG-. It was cleaned with a Discwasher brush (not RCM or ultrasonic). The labels are faded on inner and outer edges. The gatefold sleeve has some faded spots and a worn top left corner but no significant seam splits. No printed Atlantic inner sleeve. New polysleeve added.
