OTHER : Original 1969 2nd British vinyl press LP of legendary Led Zeppelin II album with red / plum (maroon) Atlantic labels. A3 ‘The Lemon Song’ an B2 Livin’ Lovin’ Maid (She’s A Woman)’ credits on both sleeve and labels – these are reliable signs of the original 1969 British 2nd press ('Wreck' misprinted press is considered the first).
The copyright information are listed as ‘Copyright Control" (sign of 1969 press too). Excellent vinyl !
DETAILED CONDITION:
VINYL : Excellent (EX). Beautiful clear vinyl in strong excellent condition. Several of light superficial scuffs and several hairlines does not affect play.
LABELS : Excellent Plus (EX+) Red / plum (maroon) Atlantic label. Mistyping of A4 THANKYOU (sign of 1969 press too!)
OUTER SLEEVE : Very Good Plus (VG+). Light brown gatefold outer sleeve printed be Ernest J. Day (later versions has dark brown outer sleeve). Visible surface scuffs at the top and left of the photo on the front of outer sleeve (please see photos). A line of noticeable horizontal waving wear across the middle of the cover. Please see photos.
On the back of outer sleeve - several scuffs, traces of bends and several traces of impressions. Slight ring wear. The inside of the gatefold has almost no signs of wear, with bright colors.
GRADING
I only grade as mint where the record is brand new and sealed with no visible damage to the sleeve.
Near Mint (NM):
Sleeve: Will only show very minor signs of storage/handling wear. It may have slight corner bumps/rub, ringwear and maybe very minor creasing. It will have no rips or splits.
Record: Will be in a new like condition. Very Clean. It may have very, very minor defects such as no more than a couple of very light wispy hairlines and a couple of spindle trails around the centre holes. Basically a record in NM condition will look like you have just got it back from the record shop or at worse only had a couple of plays.
Excellent (EX):
Sleeve: As NM but the signs of wear will become a little more pronounced. There may be signs of stress at the seams maybe the beginnings of a split. It may have a cut out hole indicating that it was taken out of print. There may be a little graffiti on the sleeve or label.
Record: Will show signs of play but has been well looked after by the previous owner. It may show a few more light marks/scuffs than a NM. These marks won't be deep enough to be felt. There may be the odd click or crackle upon playback. Slight warps are that don't effect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG):
Sleeve: A VG sleeve will have many of the defects found in a EX but more pronounced. Seam splits may be more obvious or may be taped or show residue. There may be small rips. It may show some age/handling discolouration. Laminate may be bubbled, may be marred with writing.
Record: Wear and defects will be more obvious with marks/scuffs deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Groove wear will be more noticeable. Sound deterioration and surface noise will become more likely especially during quieter passages.
