Description
Artist : LED ZEPPELIN
LP Title : Led Zeppelin III
Label : Atlantic / 2401002 / 1970
Matrix Numbers (hand etched) : 2401002 A-5 "Do what thou wilt"/ 2401002 B-5 "So mote it be"
Notes : Early 1st UK pressing with red & plum Atlantic labels bearing the text "Produced by Jimmy Page" etc on the top half of the label rather than at the bottom as with later pressings, fully laminated E.J.Day gatefold sleeve with revolving front disc.
Condition : the vinyl visually EX, but plays much better - audibly NM to these ears! It's nice and clean with hairline marking and light scuffs visible, moreso on side one - I am listening through the record in places now and it sounds really great with a few tiny clicks in a couple of places, but overall it sounds wonderful with near perfect silence between most tracks. I can't imagine that this was ever played that much.
The labels are clean and unworn with minor signs of spindle marking in the centre.
The gatefold sleeve is in wonderful EX+ condition with a fully working and unworn revolving disc. The sleeve is nice and square with only very minor signs of wear at all. The most minor signs of any corner or edge wear, a nice tight spine with perfectly clear text and a couple of little dints/marks to the front and rear which are only visible when held against the light. The inner sleeve has creasing to its corners.
All-in-all a remarkable example of this 39-year-old album, an early 1st pressing which looks and plays great - classic Led Zep!
