Description

Please take a look at my other auctions for more rare and classic vinyl!

I have for sale a true collectors piece in an overall condition that is simply incredible considering its age and rarity, namely the 12" vinyl LP (original UK 1st press) of Led Zeppelin - III (3), fully complete with original dust sleeve along with the fully laminated outer gatefold sleeve (with rotating wheel in FULL working order of course!).

Before going into further details; a little background. This LP forms part of a personal family collection that is being gradually sold off. This record has not passed through the hands of multiple collectors but has remained safely stored and completely untouched in a corner of my parents attic for 45 years. For the purpose of this auction I have inspected it closely, evaluated its condition to the best of my ability, and I present it to you now in truly remarkable 'time capsule' condition. While I confess that neither my camera, nor my photography skills are particularly great, I hope that at least some of the photos, taken in as much natural light as possible, will do the item justice. Anyway, onto the all-important details.

ALL THE ABOVE INDICATIONS OF A FIRST PRESSING HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND VERIFIED PERSONALLY.

OUTER SLEEVE

Practically near mint (NM- in my opinion). Glossy, unstained, undamaged, barely a sign of the slightest laminate lift, all edges sharp and squared off. The rotating wheel operates as perfectly as the day it was purchased. Spine fully legible with no damage. One or two very small creases, barely visible to the naked eye. Slight bulge/indent in the centre of the cover where I imagine the rotating wheel is secured (I'm no expert, but I imagine the mechanics of the rotating wheel must mean they all have this feature to some extent). Inner sleeve equal, if not BETTER condition, barely a mark on it.
INNER DUST COVER Not a lot to say here, original inner paper dust sleeve, the exact same one that came with the album (with 'Plastic bags can be dangerous' warning). One or two slight creases.
LABEL Original red/maroon 'Atlantic' label. No fading, rubbing or smudging of the lettering at all, perfectly clear and well defined printing. One or two tiny spider lines around spindle hole, which are about the only signs of use on the label overall. Near mint, no question.
VINYL I have studied this record on both sides under a bright light, and can see very minimal evidence of needle wear, hairline marks or human handling. It has lost none of its original lustre, and overall is unusually clean and unmarked considering its age. I've tried my best to demonstrate this to you in my photos. I would genuinely defy you to locate another copy in such good condition!

OVERALL SUMMARY

I have extensively researched this album on numerous websites and have seen the prices it is being listed for, and those that is has actually sold for. There are people charging around £400 for this very album in noticeably worse shape than the copy I am offering, make of that what thou wilt! :)
All I can say is that it is without doubt the pride of my collection in both rarity and condition, and I fully expect the lucky winning bidder to be delighted with every aspect of it. So good luck, and happy bidding! :)

PLEASE NOTE: Payment required via Paypal within 24hrs of auction-end please. International shipping is available via the Ebay global shipping program. UK shipping will be via RM signed for, next day delivery. My records are shipped in quality cardboard mailers with 2 x stiffeners, and I remove the record from the sleeve to reduce the likelihood of damage in transit. I try to be as accurate as I can, but unless otherwise stated I have not listened to the LP the whole way through and like all used records there is always a chance there may be minor sound defects. Please accept this risk before bidding. Returns are only accepted in the unlikely event that the description was drastically incorrect. Any other questions please enquire.
