STEREO ATLANTIC 240-1002 PLUMB/CRIMSON LABEL
In 1970 Led Zeppelin III began its troubled release, with the music press almost forcing it out, and as such errors occurred in the first pressing, which slipped through the net. Then it was swiftly pulled and replaced with this pressing. It was also a quality issue, as Jimmy Page was never happy with the pressings, hence there are no A1, 2, 3, 4 pressings for Side 1 and the same for the B side, so the first press was A5/B5 and he did not like B5, so that was pulled, too! The second press was A5/B7 and this is one of those, so early, rare, and better in sound quality, and with Jimmy Page also correcting typographical errors, and removing Peter Grant as producer.
Side One Matrix: A5 and Side Two Matrix: B7, with the famous and authentic
‘’Do what thou wilt’’ following Side One’s Matrix and ‘’So Mote It Be’’ on Side Two. These are hand etched and there are other letters/numbers that are both etched and pressed, so ask me if you want them!
The Vinyl is in nice visual condition, with just some surface or paper marks, with that nice, Atlantic heavy feel and jet-black look of 1970 vinyl!
The Labels are in really nice condition, without obvious spindle marks, unless looked at carefully, and then just traces!
The E.J. Day gate-fold sleeve with working wheel is in in superb condition, and unlike many, this LP has not had finger nails turning the wheel!! NO storage wear to the spine, edges and corners, just a slight curl where the opening is, to get the disc out, but the spine is perfectly straight and clearly legible and shows little in the way of creasing.
Comes 100% complete and original, with the blue printed poly lined inner sleeve, with ‘’Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous’’. This (see photos) has one tear and some creasing, probably due to normal pulling out and putting in, as happened! But still original!
