This is the very early "Record Club of America" pressing of Led zeppelin's fourth studio album (untitled). Released on November 8, 1971 on Atlantic Records it was produced by Jimmy Page and recorded between December 1970 and March 1971 at several locations, most prominently the Victorian house Headley Grange.
After the band received lukewarm reviews from critics, Jimmy Page decided the fourth album would be officially untitled. The inner sleeve design features four symbols that represent each band member and has led to the album being referred to by various names including "Four Symbols", "The Fourth Album", "Untitled", "Runes", "The Hermit", and "ZoSo". The original cover featured no band name because the group wished to remain anonymous and to avoid easy pigeonholing by the press.
This album was both a commercial and critical success and produced many of the bands best known songs including "Black Dog, "Rock and Roll", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Going to California", and the band's best known song and rock classic "Stairway to Heaven". This is one of the best selling albums worldwide and is the fourth best selling album in the United States.
This edition of the album is one of the early and sought after "George Peckham" mastered versions of this LP. Side one runout reads ST-A-712285-C AT/GP PR PORKY, side two reads ST-A-712286-C AT/GP PR PECKO DUCK. The sound quality on the George Peckham versions is way better than the conventional pressings and are sought after by fans and collectors.
