Led Zeppelin, Led Zep III Orig UK Red & Plum Atlantic G/fld LP EX/EX+ 1st Press.

Description

Original UK Atlantic red & plum label stereo press LP.

The third album from Led Zeppelin, recorded between November 1969 to August 1970 and released in October 1970. The fame of the band at the time meant that it already had nearly one million pre-orders before its release and went instantly to number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic.

This is the second pressing with the UK printed sleeve, the label texts with no Peter Grant credit & no Polydor Records credit, the '2401-002' catalogue number and the 'Celebration' text label error, but still with the Peter Grant credit on the inner cover. This is the 3rd label variation, with the A-5 B-7 matrices and 'So Mote It Be' texts on the run out grooves!   The E. J. Day Group laminated gatefold sleeve is intact, with a working wheel & in EX condition, with some very light corner/edge wear & some light laminate storage rubbing and slight discolouration on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle marks which do not affect play visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings!   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; 2401002, A-5 stamper 1-5-2, B-7 stamper 1-2-12, with the 'Do what thou wilt & So mote it be' groove rim text. This is one of the later copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1970 UK stereo issue of this album!
