Original UK Atlantic red & plum label stereo press.

The third album from Led Zeppelin, began life in November 1969 and after an American tour, partly in a cottage in Snowdonia, Bron-Yr-Aur during April 1970. Final recording took place at Headley Grange from May to June 1970 and mixing was completed in Memphis whilst they were touring America again in August.
The album was finally released on 23 October 1970, after a delay caused by production problems with the wheel cover. The fame of the band at the time meant that it already had nearly one million pre-orders before its release and went instantly to number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic.

This is the original pressing with the UK printed sleeve, the label texts with the Peter Grant Executive producer & Warner Brothers Music Ltd label credit and the '2401002' catalogue number. This is the 1st label variation, with the hand etched A-5 B-5 matrices, 1-1-3 1-1-5 stampers and 'So Mote It Be' texts on the run out grooves!

  The E. J. Day Group laminated gatefold sleeve is intact, with a working wheel & in EX condition, with some very light corner/edge wear & some light laminate storage rubbing and slight discolouration on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of light needle scuffs/marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and very briefly in a couple of the quieter passages. Overall, a really great loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; 2401002, A-5 stamper 1-1-3, B-5 stamper 1-1-5, with the 'Do what thou wilt & So mote it be' groove rim text. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1970 UK stereo issue of this album!
