Greetings! This is the grail record, Led Zeppelin II cut by Robert (or Bob) Ludwig, the initial first press cut by the master tape for American audiences before Atlantic Records CEO Ahmet Ertegun realized how loud the record was cut when it skipped on his daughter’s toy record player. Allegedly between 200,000 and 400,000 were pressed, and who knows how many fewer are actually available for purchase.
This is one of those opportunities.
Please read: Now, this is a STARTER edition of the great pressing, for those who want it but with concessions. There is a skip that cuts of the very first riff, right at the opening. If that is a dealbreaker, PLEASE DO NOT BID. This is for completists. Even better, if you have a record cleaning business or a friend who practices vinyl voodoo, you’ll fix the skip and the surface noise and have a thousand-dollar record in your collection.
There are feelable scratches and, after much cleaning, I do not recall more skips. But this record is in far better shape than when I found it.
