Description
For sale is a vinyl record by Led Zeppelin titled "The Soundtrack From The Film: The Song Remains The Same", originally released in 1976 by Swan Song Records as a double album that has a textured and embossed cover with a gate-fold presentation. According to the liner notes, this record was recorded live at Madison Square Garden in New York City, then mixed at Electric Ladyland Studios by Eddie Kramer. It was then mastered at Sterling Sound, located in New York City, New York. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched an upper case "S" with a smaller "R" and "C" inside its coils, followed by the matrix numbers N-1/N-1/P-1/P-1, indicating that early stampers were used to make this record set at Specialty Records Manufacturing Company's pressing plant, located in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this used, and like all my albums, professionally cleaned the records on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put them away into two MFSL archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the record. The attached 8-page booklet is Near Mint and firmly attached without any creases, marks or writing. The generic inner sleeves are graded as Very Good to Excellent because of small tears and wrinkles along their openings. The cover is graded as Excellent because of shelf rubs and corner blunts. The spine has color loss at the corners from blunts and in the middle from rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, with surfaces that are shiny and bright, in a like-new condition, without any surfaces scratches, sleeve marks, scuffs, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. They look like they were just unwrapped. I'm play grading the records as Near Mint for Side One, Near Mint Minus for Side Two because of occasional super low levels of background noise, Excellent for Side Three because of ooccasional surface noise and Excellent for Side Four because of two pops at the beginning of "Moby Dick" and occasional low levels of surface noise. All sides of all two records play all the way though without lock-ups or skips. Like all my records, it's been played on state-of-the-art audiophile equipment while I owned it. This is the best copy of this hard to find record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition, especially a Specialty pressing. I have other Rock and Roll records, as well as albums of all different genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately in Near Mint condition. Thank you for viewing my listing.
I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
